ALBOGEL
An injectable and sprayable hydrogel, designed to act as an anti-adhesive barrier between internal organs and tissues after surgery.
Abdominal adhesions are bands of scar tissue that can form between the abdominal wall and internal organs. Normally, internal tissues and organs have slithery surfaces, preventing them from sticking together as the body moves. However, abdominal adhesions cause tissues and internal organs in the abdominal cavity to stick together.

ALBOGEL is a clear, single-use Injectable, and sprayable hydrogel, used during different surgeries to help prevent adhesions or internal scar tissue.
ALBOGEL acts as a temporary, protective barrier to separate tissues and reduces fibrosis and the formation of post-surgical adhesions.
Post-operative adhesion of the tissue with the other tissue or organ form because of the injury or cut made by the medical procedure to the patients. The adhesion causes not only post-surgical complications but also increase therapeutic costs. We have built a hydrogel to prevent adhesion. With time, the surgical wounds heal, and the hydrogel degrades, reducing the possibilities of adhesion formation. Presently, the laparoscopic procedure is favored rather than the regular open surgical procedure. Our device’s preferred fundamental standpoint is that it is good with both laparoscopic just as laparotomy procedure. Our product is in liquid form, which can be infused through a syringe without causing significant injuries and wounds to the patient. The liquid moves toward becoming gel only after around 3-4 minutes, giving the surgeon sufficient time to apply it in the patient’s body.

Meet Our Team
About Envisage
ENVISAGE is a nascent startup in the biomedical industry. It all started in 2018, when a Biomedical student of NIT Rourkela, Pijush Giri observed that post-operative adhesion between tissues and organs causes several difficulties and raises the therapeutic cost during surgeries. This theory sparked his interest and he started researching ways to make the aforesaid process less expensive. In the year of 2019, with the guidance of Prof. Devendra Verma, he has successfully developed a hydrogel that can avoid post-surgical adhesion, which can make the whole post-operative process more affordable. After realizing the entrepreneurial opportunity his invention offers, he started building his team with expertise and established his own enterprise ENVISAGE. Later in that same year, he has applied for the BIG-14 grant with his team. Needless to say, they grabbed the BIG grant in the first attempt. After that, to this day, ENVISAGE is acknowledged as a long-term startup capable of bringing this invention to market.
